LISE DU PLESSIS

Occupational Therapist

Lisé received her Bachelors degree in Occupational therapy at Stellenbosch University,

South Africa in 2016.

 

After university, she completed her community service year at a rural hospital in Kwazulu- Natal, South Africa. Here she gained experience in treating children with Cerebral Palsy, Down syndrome and various developmental delays. In 2018, she volunteered at LIV village in Durban, a village for orphaned and vulnerable children, where she gained experience in assessing and treating children with various developmental delays in gross motor and fine motor skills as well as children with intellectual disabilities.

 

She also worked at a centre for children with various disabilities including Autism, Down Syndrome, Intellectual disabilities and Cerebral Palsy. Here she wrote treatment plans for the children, provided training for the teachers and planned a stimulation programme for one of the classes.

 

In 2020 she started her own toddler group where she educated nannies with regards to

developmental milestones and fun ways to stimulate the children at home. In the same year

she worked for an NGO where she trained teachers at Early Childhood Development centres

to implement a stimulation programme. At these ECD centres she also performed developmental assessments throughout the year.

 

In her previous job she worked in a hospital and local clinics where she treated children with various diagnoses including ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy, fetal alcohol syndrome and intellectual disabilities. She has a passion for educating and equipping parents and caregivers with skills to help children reach their full potential. It gives her great joy to see a child reach their goals and gain confidence in participating within activities.

 

Lisé thrives working in a multi-disciplinary team and believes that the holistic management  of a client can only be achieved within this environment. Lisé feels its of great importance to

continuously improve her skill set by regularly attending courses so that clients can benefit

from the best possible therapy.
