JESSICA HAZELL

Speech-Language Pathologist

Jess is a qualified speech-language pathologist originally from South Africa, with a passion for what she does and a desire to see every child find their voice in this world.

After completing her degree at the University of Cape Town in 2018, she worked in a rural government hospital for a year. This involved setting up and running the speech therapy department, while also servicing outlying clinics and schools in the community. She then moved into paediatric private practice, where she has gained invaluable experience in a variety of different areas over the past 5 years. Jess has experience working with children of all ages with a variety of diagnoses including Autism, childhood apraxia of speech (CAS), auditory processing disorder (APD), dyslexia, fluency disorders, receptive and expressive language disorders and various speech sound disorders. There are so many areas of speech therapy which she loves and enjoys, as each area has its own rewards and challenges.

Jess believes that every child deserves to be seen, heard and valued; with the aim in her work to remove any barriers to that being achieved! Her focus as a therapist is on connection and child-centered therapy, ensuring positive and fun learning experiences that increase both confidence and competence. Jess also loves to involve the family of each child in the therapy process, ensuring that they too feel empowered, knowledgeable and able to support their child’s growth as much as possible.

When she’s not at work, Jess enjoys songwriting, reading, running and meaningful conversations with friends.
