This program is designed for high school students, university students, and young adults who are curious about professions that support children’s learning, communication, movement, and emotional wellbeing.
Career Explorers will gain firsthand exposure to the interdisciplinary work that supports children and families in the Cayman Islands. Participants may observe and learn about:
Occupational Therapy
Speech and Language Therapy
Clinical Psychology
Educational and school-based supports
Client-centered therapy approaches
Team collaboration and case discussions
The role of therapy in schools and community settings
Participants will see how therapists support children with diverse developmental needs including learning differences, communication challenges, sensory processing needs, and emotional regulation.
Observations take place in a professional, ethical, and child-safe environment, with strict confidentiality and safeguarding policies in place.
Job shadow participants are expected to approach this opportunity with curiosity, professionalism, and respect for the children and families we serve.
Participants must:
Maintain strict confidentiality regarding all client information
Follow all child safeguarding and clinic safety policies
Demonstrate professional behavior and respectful communication
Arrive on time and prepared
Participate in reflection discussions with supervising clinicians
Complete required consent, liability, and safety documentation
