During her Master’s studies, Dr. Laurence was fortunate to be one of the first students to study a new discipline of psychology, “BioPsychology”, which combines the biological and psychological aspects of human development. During this time, she also had the opportunity to attend courses at the Pennsylvania State University, focused on neuropsychology, and the University of North Carolina, to work in a clinical setting with youths diagnosed with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and severe conduct disorder. It was also during her Master’s degree that she had the honor to work on a project with Dr. Marti Korkman, the developer of the NEPSY (Developmental Neuropsychological Assessment), to standardize the NEPSY for the Dutch population. Additionally, she had the privilege to work in a Child Eating Disorder Clinic in London under Prof. Glenn Waller, and also on a collaborative project with the University of Pennsylvania.
After completing her studies, Dr. Laurence relocated to the Cayman Islands and worked for three years as the Medical Research Director with the Health Services Authority. A further family move took her to Geneva, Switzerland, where she joined the Child Development Unit of the University Hospital Geneva, focused on assessing the temperament in infants and neuropsychological functio
